Epitope mapping assays using LC Sciences’ PepArray™ technology are powerful epitope mapping tools for immunological studies, vaccine development, and biosensor development.

Our microfluidic epitope mapping platform produces PepArray™ technology produce uniform peptide spots and enhanced binding kinetics, resulting in more reliable and quantitative signal readouts, delivering a more reliable readout of assay signals. Well-designed positive and negative controls, as well as multiple replicates of each peptide sequence, contribute to data confidence.

High-Throughput Microarray Format


Epitope mapping on a peptide microarray offers the opportunity to study thousands (up to tens of thousands of peptides per chip) of specific binding sequences in a single experiment. Custom Microarray Content


Peptides are synthesized on-chip, not pre-synthesized and spotted.  There is no up-front cost to pre-synthesize a peptide library.  We can synthesize a completely custom, one-of-a-kind peptide microarray specifically for your experiment, delivering results that cannot be achieved with an tailored to your experimental needs.  With the ability to program new sequence designs on the fly, you can quickly revise the microarray design and content to keep experiments moving forward based on previous results.

How Does Epitope Mapping Work?

Epitope mapping is used to identify the specific region of an antigen that binds to an antibody. These regions, called epitopes, are critical for understanding antibody specificity and antigen–antibody interactions. By determining where an antibody binds, researchers can better support antibody drug development, vaccine design, and immunology research.

In general, epitope mapping methods analyze structural or chemical differences between an antigen alone and the antigen bound to an antibody. These differences help reveal the exact binding site on the protein.


Basic Workflow

Most epitope mapping protocols follow several key steps:

Antigen–Antibody Binding

The antibody is incubated with its target antigen to form a stable complex.


Protein Analysis

The complex is analyzed using advanced techniques to detect regions affected by antibody binding.


Peptide Identification

The antigen is digested into peptides and analyzed using technologies such as LC-MS.


Data Interpretation

Differences between bound and unbound proteins reveal the epitope location.
